Things to Do                                

Of course, the beach and reef at Calypso are always available, but there are many interesting places to see and visit. The weather can sometimes be quite variable (but rarely unpleasant) so it's best to choose your activities accordingly.  On calm days with stable weather, take longer trips. 

• Dive/snorkel and picnic at Pelican Cay Land and Sea park (Sandy Cay)

• Dive/snorkel at Fowl Cay Preserve

• Dive/snorkel or rent gear: Froggies Diving  

• Fish with  Robert Lowe

• Boat trip north to Guana Cay. Enjoy the beautiful beach and good food at Nippers.

• Boat trip north to Treasure Cay - nice beach and golf

• Sail with Cruise Abaco on their 37' boat (great for windy days)

• Boat trip south to Little Harbour, visit the Johnson Foundry and Pete's Pub

• Kayak with Abaco Outback

• Shop in Marsh Harbour

• Visit Man-O-War's lovely harbour and see local boat builders 

• Visit the Wyannie Malone Historical Museum in Hopetown

• Visit the famous Hopetown lighthouse

• Visit local gift shops: Ebb Tide, Iggy Biggy, El Mercado, Fantasy Boutique

• Lunch/drinks and a dip in the pool at Abaco Inn, Harbour Lodge, or Sea Spray

• Swim and picnic at Tahiti Beach

• Sunday brunch at the Harbour Lodge or Nippers

• Bicycle riding

• Golf cart cruising

There are many restaurants on the island offering a diversity of food and atmosphere, from conch burgers overlooking the harbor to grouper royale by candle light. Dishes with local fish, conch, or lobster are favorites. Casual, but neat, attire is the rule.

Calypso welcomes those guests that enjoy cooking with a well equipped kitchen and numerous dining areas offering unmatched ambiance. Fresh seafood is available from several markets, and there are four local grocery stores (they carry the basics, so don't expect rare ingredients or specialty items). Three stores carry a very acceptable selection of wine, beer, and liquors.

• Harbour View - full grocery in town on harbour (with dock)

• Sweeting's - full grocery on way to White Sound (south)

• LVA - small grocery/convenience store very close to Calypso

• A&E Liquors - short cart ride south

• Hopetown Wine and Spirits - adjacent to Lighthouse Marina
